POST GRADUATE APPLIED RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP FOR SERVING PERSONNEL  MALAY 

Post Graduate Applied Research Fellowship For Serving Personnel Scheme provides support in the form of scholarship to research officers at public research institutions or academic staff such as lecturers at Public Institutions of Higher Learning to pursue further training (M.Sc and Ph.D) in R&D priority areas of national interest.

The training acquired is expected to enhance their skills, abilities and efficiency of the researchers/scientists to carry out high-technology and world class research works.

Form Of Assistance

Selected candidates will receive financial sponsorship based on the guidelines as specified by the Public Service Department of Malaysia, and will be given Full-Paid Study Leave for the whole duration of their studies (24 months for M.Sc and 36 months for Ph.D). This sponsorship is offered only for full-time research studies at any local universities or at renowned universities abroad.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Officers and researchers, who are entitled for the post-graduate course, must have the knowledge, skills, experience, interest and suitable characteristics that can contribute towards enhancing the efficiency of their service and their organisation. They should have a recognised degree or any other equivalent qualification. Head of Department/Institution/Agency shall identify the qualified candidates according to their organisational training need. Officers in the professional group, research officers or lecturers who have been confirmed in their service from the following.
    i) Local Public Institutions of Higher Learning.
    ii) Corporatized Local Research Institutions such as SIRIM and MIMOS.
    iii) Local Public Research Institutions. Applicants must not be more than 45 years of age at the time of application.
  2. Applicants must be free from disciplinary accusation/action.

How To Apply

  1. Application must be submitted through the respective Head of Department/Institutions to the HCD (STI) Programme Secretariat . Secured a place of study in a recognised university or in a university of high ranking abroad. A comprehensive research proposal approved by the proposed supervisor. Proven English proficiency (e.g. TOEFL 600/250 or IELTS 6.5 minimum score) for an application to study at universities abroad . Application will be considered by HCD (STI) Steering Committee Meeting and the decision made is final. The amount of scholarship/allowance is based on the rate specified by the Public Service Department. Maximum duration of sponsorship for Masters study is 24 months and for Doctorate is 36 months.
  2. Closing Date : 25 March 2010.
