This scheme provides support in the form of financial grant to research institutions intending to appoint post-doctoral research fellow who will conduct full time research work, and thereby contributes towards enhancing and strengthening research work in a particular research area of national interest.
Forms Of Assistance
The scheme comprises :
Domestic Post Doctoral Research Fellowship (pre-service and in service) open to Malaysian
researcher with a PhD, or will obtain it in six months, ready for
appointment to conduct full time research work.
Post Doctoral Fellowship for Foreign Researcher
Open to non-Malaysian citizen who has a PhD, or will obtain it in six months in any relevant field of studies, from a recognized university.
The tenure for the post-doctoral fellowship is between one to three years, subject to research performance.
Appointed post doctoral fellow will be paid from RM3,500 per month to RM 5,000 per month, depending on his/her proven skill and experience; whether pre service or in-service candidate and country of origin. For in service candidates must get approval for unpaid leave to be eligible to receive allowances of RM3,500 to RM5,000
- (option A).
There is another option for in service candidates, which is with approved leave to work as fellow researcher besides handling the designated job will receive full salary also be given monthly allowances from RM500 - RM1,500 (to commensurate candidates experiences and performances) - (option B).
Eligibility Criteria
Application must be made by the Post Doctoral candidate and fellowed by supervisor's endorsement.
Applying supervisors or research groups need to prove possession of a research grant.
Non-Malaysian post doctoral candidates need to prove his/her proficiency in English, for instance:through TOEFL (minimum score 600)or IELTS (minimum score 6.5).
How To Apply
Application is open throughout the year, and must be submitted through Institutional Centre for R&D Management (RMC). For in-service personnel application must also be approved by the respective Head of Department/Institutions to the HCD (STI) Programme Secretariat.
Application must be submitted at least 2 months prior to the HCD (STI) Steering Committee Meeting who will consider and decide in which the decision made is final.

* Academics certificates (Diploma/* Bachelors/Masters/*PhD or Senate approval letter)

* CV.
* Research Proposal.
